Why learn to swim?

Swimming is a fun activity that not only keeps children fit, but also gives them a life-long skill set.

Swimming promotes physical development, enhances a child's natural flexibility, promotes proportional muscular development and hones motor control and coordination.

Children develop their basic movement range during the ages of 5 years to 8 years for females, and 6 years to 9 years for males. During this stage of 'growing up', children should be taking part in activity that builds their motor movement skills, with the emphasis being learning through FUN.

Swimming is also a sport that will bring your child fitness and enjoyment for life. It is the most injury-free sport of all children's sports, yet it equips your child with a survival skill.

One of the most important advantages of swimming is safety. If there is ever a situation where you find yourself in water, you should be able to keep yourself afloat till help arrives or you can swim your way to safety. This is especially true for children as they should be taught swimming from an early age so that they can learn to be calm in case of an incident.

Whether it is for competition or leisure, swimming cultivates a healthy, active lifestyle for children and allows them to forge friendships with like-minded, healthy kids.

At Kids Swimming Lessons, our swimming coaches also teach students important life skills such as self-motivation, self-discipline, goal-setting, cooperation, independence, confidence and sportsmanship.
